REAL ROOFING NINJAS PROJECT

Dormer leadwork, flat roofs and a porch re-roof in Ormskirk

OUR WORK · RUFF LANE, ORMSKIRK · SEPTEMBER–OCTOBER 2026

This project on Ruff Lane brought together renewed lead covering to the dormer cheeks, two flat roofs, guttering, and a porch re-roof in small tiles with new leadwork. The dormer work came first, followed by the porch in October.

Our photographs show the preparation and progress as well as the finished work. The final porch image is a still from our completion video on 9 October.

Dormer cheeks: before and after the new leadwork

The earlier photographs show the dormer cheeks opened up, exposing the timber beneath the old covering. We renewed the lead to the cheeks—the sides of the dormers—and carried out the associated flat-roof and gutter work.

Two flat roofs and guttering

The work also covered two flat roofs and the guttering. These photographs show an earlier roof surface and the renewed mineral-surfaced covering and edge detail during the work. Tools and offcuts are still visible in the progress photograph.

Porch re-roof: preparation, tiling and finished leadwork

We re-roofed the porch in small tiles and renewed the leadwork. The 6 October photograph shows the membrane and battens before the new covering was laid. The next day's photograph shows the tile courses being built up across the slope, with part of the roof still to finish.

The completion video recorded on 9 October shows the tiled porch being rinsed down. The still below shows the small-tile finish and new stepped lead flashing where the roof meets the brick wall.
