This chimney repair in Ormskirk brought together repointing, replacement leadwork and renewal of the felt and battens around the stack. We also fitted a new lead back gutter behind the chimney. The photographs show the roof opened up during the work and the renewed pointing and leadwork afterwards.
Opening up the roof around the chimney
The junction between a chimney and a pitched roof includes more than the visible flashing. For this job, we lifted the roof covering around the stack so we could renew the felt and battens as well as the leadwork.
Repointing and a new lead back gutter
We repointed the chimney and renewed the leadwork where the stack meets the roof. A new lead back gutter completed the work on the uphill side of the chimney, where water needs a clear route around the stack.
This was a targeted repair to the existing chimney and the roof immediately around it. The stack was retained.
