Start with condition and the result you want
Ask which parts remain serviceable and which need attention. Explain whether you are aiming for a complete external renewal or replacing the main roof while retaining sound roofline components. Appearance is one consideration; the condition and function of the existing work also matter.
Ask how the edges of the roof will be finished
The quotation should explain the connection between the roof covering, eaves and guttering, including any relevant ventilation arrangement. Ask whether fascia work is replacement or covering existing material, and what happens if unsound material is exposed. These are different scopes and should not be hidden behind a single product description.
Consider shared access, without assuming a saving
Doing related work together may make planning easier, but ask for the actual quotation. Access requirements can differ and there is no universal saving to promise. Where work is optional, a separate price helps you decide what to include without losing track of the main roof replacement.
